byte Cares was launched in October of 2018 at the 26th annual Models of Pride conference, hosted by the Los Angeles LGBT Center. More than 1,500 lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth along with their allies were in attendance from over 150 U.S. cities and more than 200 schools nationwide. The event was held at the California State University Los Angeles campus. byte Cares is a staunch supporter of LGBT+ rights, and hopes to help people within the community to straighten and improve their smiles.
Individuals within the LGBT+ community have historically struggled with confidence. A 2017 Youth Risk Behavior Survey showed that high school students who self identified as lesbian, gay, or bisexual experienced higher rates of bullying (source). byte Cares hopes to help build confidence within this often marginalized community, and to help reduce bullying by providing low to no cost aligners to those in need.
byteCares specifically chose to launch at the Models of Pride conference in order to display loud and vehement support for this community, and to tell LGBT+ individuals who may be struggling with self confidence that a great smile is now within their reach.
